Hopefully Kristen will succeed in the Top 40 country realm where Shelly Fairchild did not. I think Kristen’s blend of country and soul is more accessible to the radio audience than Shelly’s often hard rock edged blues approach was. Kristen’s debut Top 40 single “Ex-Old Man” is getting a ton of adds at AirHead Country Radio stations, well at least on the stations where the programmers are not airheads anyways. Kristen would be a great act to tour with Zac Brown in my opinion. Go Kristen!

I think “Sounds of Austin should have a bunch of genre centered sub-channels, like say a western swing focused channel for instance…

That “78 Project” just strikes me as absolutely absurd. Why go back to an archaic system with limited fidelity that few people have the ability to play? I’ve got a few nice turntables around the house, but none of them have 78 RPM capability. I’d rather hear a well produced and pressed 33.3 RPM LP record or a well recorded and produced CD like the kinds Bear Family sells than some oddity made just to be different. How about making 45 RPM normal LP album sized discs as something that’s unusual but still listenable? Hmm…
