Sonia Leigh has great taste in songwriting. That’s always encouraging to see.

Honestly, while none of the artists have gotten a ton of mainstream attention, Zac Brown’s record label has put out some pretty damn good records and artists. Levi Lowrey especially blew me away with his album.

Thanks for the tip on Elizabeth Cook. I was happy to see she is playing LA again in December although The Mint is not a good venue for her (short sets and noisy drunks). Its too bad she didn’t book at the Bootleg Theater again where she played back in May as the sound was fantastic and the audience quiet and respectful. Still, I’m just glad to see her perform anywhere! (lol)

The Aussie edition of Music City Roots last night was top notch and well worth a viewing when it becomes available in their archives. Catherine Britt was in full hillbilly mode thanks to the presence of Bill Chambers. Good on ya, mates!

That’s not really the Soggy Bottom Boys – it’s the members of the Nashville Bluegrass Band who were part of the Soggy Bottom Boys. Not that there’s anything wrong with that… About the biggest selling point of the new deluxe O Brother set is that it includes the first version of “In The Jailhouse Now” recorded for the movie, which features the late Harley Allen singing the lead.
