I don't think any of you would disagree that it's a bout time for another LAW record, and with Lidell in the producer's chair, my hopes are high.

Brady, I'm not sure about Jimmy Rankin being in the right category or not, but I can tell you that it is certainly worthy of being lauded. "Maybe Nothing" and "The Hurtin' Part" are two of my favorite songs of the year. Perhaps his history with the Rankin Family- who are a fixture in this category- had a big influence.

I just checked out the rest of the CCMA winners and was surprised to see Corb Lund didn't win Roots Artist of the Year again. Even more surprising is that Jimmy Rankin was considered rootsy enough to supplant him.

"<em>That Bluegrass Blog interview with Pandolfi is another good reminder of why actually writing articles beats just tossing out an exact transcript of extemporaneous remarks.</em>"

And for what we pay, something is better than nothing.

<i>Am I reading that right: The Austin City Limits season consists of 7 episodes and an awards show?</i>

Dig a little bit further and you'll find that what's been announced is just the first half of the season.

I don't know how Jackson's sounding right now, but I saw him in concert a year ago last Saturday and he sounded very good.

What, Elizabeth Cook is out here in LA and no gigs were booked? What's up with that?

I listened to the George Jones Opry last night and Alan Jackson's vocals sounded kind of rough to me. Jamey Johnson was a welcome addition just for the lack of slickness in his presentation.

Gosh, some artists that can actually be considered country on Austin City Limits these days? What a concept...

Texas wunderkind Ruby Jane is coming to LA next Tuesday for a gig at the tiny Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena. I'm going to check it out just to see if she lives up to all of the hype emanating from the Lone Star State. Hmm...

I listened in to the Opry last night for the tribute - it was a great show. Johnson also sang part of "Walk Through This World With Me" and "Tennessee Whiskey."

That Bluegrass Blog interview with Pandolfi is another good reminder of why actually writing articles beats just tossing out an exact transcript of extemporaneous remarks.

I miss Marty Godbey.
