Video Premiere: Whiskey Myers — “Lightning”

Juli Thanki | December 16th, 2013

-images-uploads-gallery-wm4You’re going to hear a lot about gritty roots rockers Whiskey Myers in the coming months. Today, we’re glad to premiere the quintet’s new live video, “Lightning,” recently filmed at a show outside their Tyler, Texas hometown.

“Lightning,” which lead singer Cody Cannon says was written during a “darker time” for him, can be found on the band’s forthcoming third album, Early Morning Shakes, produced by Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Lindi Ortega, Jamey Johnson), which is scheduled for release on February 4. (If you want an advance copy of the record, the band is holding a photo contest — winners will get CDs and one will get a signed guitar).

What’s with this mini-trend of commenting on a video posting as if talking to the band? This ain’t the band’s YouTube site!

We live in Gladewater, Texas and my husband was in a very bad motorcycle accident , lost his leg, and has a lot of head injuries. He is not able to get around to well. So we don’t get out to much. Our oldest boy turned us on to your music, and my husband loves it. He won’t hardly listen to anyone else. So, thank you for helping him out, I hope you guys krrp playing together for a long time.
