You know this website is pretty much everything The 9513 was yet there is so little participation here! What's going on? We all need to spread the word as I want more Texas Red Dirt music fans here to piss off on a regular basis now that I can't mention Obamavoters! (lol)

Ashley Monroe's public profile sure has been raised by her participation in The Pistol Annies. An advance CD of Ashley's "Satisfied" album just sold on FleaBay for $ 130!!!! Crikey mate, might have to find mine, dust it off, and think about doing the same thing although I expect other owners to get the same idea at that price!

Hey everybody, don't forget about tonight's Music City Roots webcast that will feature Will Hoge, Yarn, Sara Hickman, Hymn For Her, Spirit Family Reunion, and Jubal's Kin. I don't know about the music but some of those band names have me intrigued! (lol)

The teenage whirlwind from Texas named Ruby Jane played a solo acoustic gig at The Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena, CA last night to a small but appreciative audience. Ruby brought along her twelve string acoustic guitar, her fiddle, and a digital recorder/loop playback machine. On most slef-penned songs Ruby would start by playing an acoustic rhythm track on her guitar which she would record and then start looping back, then she would grab her fiddle and play some mean gypsy jazz style licks as well as some string plucking. Besides her own songs Ruby tossed in a couple of covers of a Willie Nelson song "Valentine" and a Townes Van Zandt song I wasn't familiar with. Ruby told me she normally plays with her "rock style band" in Texas, such as at the recent ACL Music Festival, but the acoustic approach suited me just fine. I was hoping for a little western swing in the mix but Ruby is infatuated with gypsy/swing/jazz style violin licks these days and has a real gift in that realm. Ruby and her Mom have a lot of friends in LA and she comes out to pitch her music to TV and film types, but this was her first venue performance here. I really hope its not her last since she says her musical tastes and styles are always evolving, not unexpected from a 16 year old who's been playing fiddle since age 2! (lol) Go Ruby Jane!

Its great to see that video of Nora Jane Struthers singing with Bearfoot. The NJS factor has increased my interest in the new album at least tenfold! Now all we need is a freebie give away contest. (lol)

Man I wish Time Warner offered RFD-TV out here in SoCal! That is the one country music related cable channel I'd probably actually watch once in awhile. Oh well...
