Barry, I'm glad you provided that additional information about the origins of Fan Fair. Pegging it to an event held in London just didn't make a whole lot of sense.

So the CMT Awards show is tonight huh? I can't wait to read the various live blogs well after the fact! (lol) The blog here will be the first in line though.

The Band Perry is working with Rick Rubin huh? That fills me with a couple of emotions, ie fear and trepidation! (lol) I'm just thankful it's NOT Jack White, T. Bonehead Burnette, or Brett Beavers! It would be nice if they gave Keith Stegall a go instead.

Thanks for the link to the Sunny Sweeney interview. Her label hasn't released a radio single since "Drink Myself Single" stalled out high on the charts months ago. I think any brownie points Sunny scored at AirHead Country Radio with "From A Table Away" have been forgotten by now. Oh well.

Tonight's Music City Roots features The Holy Ghost Tent Revival (I like the name at least), Goose Creek Symphony, Kellin Watson, and Now You See Them. I must say there is no shortage of strange band names in the Americana realm these days...

No, it's because that exact space has never, ever been used to exhibit <del>sparkly outfits</del> flying balconies before, and the break with tradition is a big deal.

Because she's not famous?

With all due respect to the charming and knowledgeable Geo Hamilton IV, the origins of Fan Fair go back farther than England in the late 1960s. Lurking behind it were the Nashville industry's active participation in the huge Jimmie Rodgers Festivals in Meridian in the 50s which pointed to having a similar (and more controlled) event of their own in Nashville, the efforts of the fan clubs of the fifties and early sixties to have a real role at the Nashville DJ conventions, from which they came to be excluded, the birth of the CMA< and the CMA realization that there ought to b SOMEWHERE to make the most of all of that pent-up fan interest and energy. They may then have adopted some ideas that were used in in the UK, but, with that background, they decided to begin the event without any international help!

Man, this whole Taylor Swift Hall of Fame exhibit seems like such a stretch. But I'm glad to see it's in the no man's land behind the glass in the archives instead of taking up valuable floor space. I can't see the harm of doing more exhibits in that archive area. When there's only one or two displays back there they look like such an afterthought. You fill it up and it will attract a lot more people.
