Oh well, one day the guy Taylor Swift wrote that song about will be living in a big city, but all she'll ever be is mean.

Or something like that. :-)

Went and listened to a bunch of Rayna's album. Not much in the way of up-tempo material ;-), but it's got a lot of really cool stuff. She'll be on Music City Roots next week with Scott Miller.

Yes, those quotes did make Taylor Swift seem a little immature, but her donation to the School for the Deaf was classy, so I'll give her a pass this month.:)

Also, great interview with Garth Brooks, Barry.

Am I the only one who thinks that Taylor saying stuff like that is making her a heck of a lot less likable? It seems almost as immature as the songs she's released as of late, more a regression than growth

A fair point, JR; that sentence got a little over-compressed, which is on me.

Mazor's piece of course a great read, but in the article he's confused Brooks' songs "Wolves" and "Face To Face". Or rather, incorrectly lumped them together. "Face" deals with both issues of schoolyard bullies and date rape. "Wolves" is simply a passionate plea to never forget the underdog.

"The one song on “Nashville” I didn’t like last night was sung by the edgy “alt. country guy”, so I’m assuming that was Trent’s contribution."

Nope.

Barry's piece is really, really good. As usual.

The Ralph Stanley video was done by the great photographer Michael Wilson.

Hmmm, what can I say that will stir things up today?...(lol)

Opry Alert! Tonight's "Classic Country Opry" will feature Marty Stuart as the spotlight performer (reason enough to tune in). Other artists featured include Lynn Anderson, Jimmy Fortune, Riders In The Sky, Jim Lauderdale, the Top 40 country radio "always a bridesmaid" Katie Armiger, and NO Opry Legends! I hope this is the start of a trend! (lol) Grade: A!
Schedule: http://www.opry.com/shows/ThisWeek.html

Thanks for the link to the CMT Edge segment featuring Nicki Bluhm. I'm trying to get McCabe's Guitar shop to book a show featuring Nicki and her husband Tim and/or their "Brokedown in Bakersfield" band ensemble. Go Nicki!

Gosh, most of the songs Trent Dabbs recorded with Ashley Monroe were utterly boring. The one song on "Nashville" I didn't like last night was sung by the edgy "alt. country guy", so I'm assuming that was Trent's contribution.

Reading about Jamey's concert sure doesn't make me feel any better about the cancellation of the "Railroad Revival Tour". Darn.
