Jana Kramer has a nice voice and looks good, so at least she has positive some things going for her besides pop-culture celebrity. It says a lot about the nature of AirHead Country Radio listeners the way they embrace an actress from One Tree Hill and winners and runner ups on American Idol. Top 40 country radio has just become another shallow, mediocre part of the pop culture continuum. Which of the Kardashian sisters will be the first to "go country"? Hmmm...

Speaking of pop culture, I noticed "Hart of Dixie" is on tonight, but is this a new episode? Its always fun to see or hear which pop-rock country artists will get cameos or be on the soundtrack, and Jamie King does great job as Lemon.

I wonder if the audience at the live taping of the Carrie Underwood / Steven Tyler version of Crossroads will be supplied with "very special" barf bags? Just the thought of it makes me queasy.

Its nice to hear that Holly Williams is cutting a new album and that Donna Ulisse and her bandmates are okay after the trailer incident. Crikey!

PS as an aside: There is a 13 year old Kentucky gal in Nashville named Laney Meredith who has quite a nice voice for her age. I heard a song of hers "Whatever This Is" on Heartland Public Radio yesterday and was impressed. Recent song samples can be heard at:
http://www.reverbnation.com/laneymeredith

Laney will also be part of a "Singer Songwriter Series" in the Commodore Grill inside the West End Holiday Inn in Nashville on Saturday, February 11th at 7 PM (at 2613 West End Avenue). Not a common thing for 13 year olds (apart from Taylor Swift and Hunter Hayes anyway.) I think this gal might have a shot even without American Idol! (lol)

Brown's working with Jeff King, which already gives her more country cred than some folks around here.

Why is country music the dumping ground for all failed American Idol contestants? For every Carrie Underwood or Kellie Pickler, there's at least a half-dozen Ayla Browns or Michael Sarvers.

Anthony Hamilton's Back to Love was one of my favorite albums of 2011. Looking forward to what he's got up his sleeve.
