I really do think the Folsom album is amazing and love the stuff he did with Rick Rubin. As a kid in the 70's I remember buying some Cash albums that were not as good as the earlier stuff and in hindsight not as good as the american recordings that finished out his career. All in all I think Cash is one of the overall most important artists in the history of American music. My first musical memories revolve around hearing early Cash and Elvis sun records my parents played around the house. I'm sure that has something to do with my feelings about Cash's music. True. The difference between the two isn't hard to understand. I have no problem with saying that Cash is one of the giants of country music - and, to a lesser but still definite respect, of American music in general - but I never cared much for his work beyond "One Piece At A Time" and "Oney," and I definitely don't care for anyone telling me that there's anything wrong with that.
