Jon, Sunny had a sustainable career in Texas prior to Scott Borchetta giving her a call back in 2007. Since Scott gave her a shot at the Top 40 marketplace big time, I was just hoping Sunny would have a string of Top 10 singles during this phase of her career. Since Sunny is newly married (second time round) to a Texas police detective, I'd guess she'd be plenty happy just to base her career in and around Texas once again. At least her label gave a decent push to three radio singles while some give up after # 2. Also the fact Sunny does not talk politics in public is one of her traits I find so endearing, unlike so many clueless loose lipped libby-tards...

Truth is the best new songs I heard Sunny sing live back in 2010 were not on her "Concrete" album! If Sunny heads back to Texas, I can't wait to hear her next studio album whenever that might be.

That Cody Canada interview is very interesting. I'm looking forward to hearing more from The Departed, as much as I dug Cross Canadian Ragweed, I felt like their last album really felt blah. The new Departed album isnt perfect, but it at least sounds like everybody is refreshed and interested again. I had no idea that Grady Cross was the reason for the break up all along though.

If the label has lost interest and shelved Sunny, she will go down in posterity as just another country radio “One Hit Wonder”. What a shame.

If you dislike country radio so much - and you've made it abundantly clear that you do - then why do you persist in using accomplishment there as your only consistent measure of success? Maybe you should spend less time foaming at the mouth about artists' political views and more time appreciating the ways that artists whose music you like have been able to develop sustainable careers outside of the mainstream. Crikey!

Thanks for the links to the Carolina Chocolate Drops videos. I'm so glad I got to see them live back in 2007 with the original line up. They are coming to LA to perform as part of a music series at UCLA this spring at high falutin' prices! Crikey! (lol)

Thanks to Music City Roots I've actually heard The Vespers and Elephant Revival live. I consider MCR a valuable public service! (lol)

It figures the most talented and worthy artists (both alive and dead) would get the "Off Camera" awards at the ACMs. Maybe its intentional as they don't want to remind the typical ACM Awards viewer how great country music used to be compared to today's mediocre pop-rock coutry schlock.

Justin Townes Earle makes turning 30 sound like such a big deal! (lol) I can't imagine the angst he'll feel if he makes it to 40...

Sunny Sweeney News: Sadly there is no Sunny Sweeney news as her record label (Republic Nashville) has not released a fourth single to radio yet. "From a Table Away" hit # 10 on the Mediabase chart while her next two singles "Stayin's Worse Than Leavin'" and "Drink Myself Single" failed to garner traction. If the label has lost interest and shelved Sunny, she will go down in posterity as just another country radio "One Hit Wonder". What a shame.
