Its great to see some coverage of Gwendolyn here at Engine 145. She is definitely one of the friendliest LA based Americana artists I’ve had the chance to meet and chat with at the Grand Ole Echo shows over the last couple of years. I received an advance version of her CD well over a year ago and I’m glad its finally made it to commercial release and is garnering some attention. I especially like her yodel in “Discover Me”. Go Gwendolyn!

I purchased a copy of the debut album from the Tennessee Hot Damns awhile back and found it a bit lackluster and disappointing. Having seen Megan perform live a couple of times, I know she is capable of a lot better than this, so all they really need is better songwriting! (But then again, who doesn’t?) If the THD’s did a cover album of classic old timey country songs, I’d be the first in line to buy that one. It still kills me that the Broken Bow label recorded a lot of songs with Megan that have never leaked out as advance copies! Darn.

When Sierra Hull was in LA a few months back I requested “Best Buy” as it wasn’t part of their initial set list. Its great to see the song performed live again on that video from the IBMA festival. Because Christian Ward plays such mean western swing style fiddle on that tune, I told him he needs to go down to the Station Inn and play with the Time Jumpers! (lol)

What Hank Williams contributed just might be more interesting than (and I’ve heard this before) that he died. If you want to watch the car go on and on that New Year’s, for some reason, there’s already this:

Yet another trailer for the “Last Ride” movie, but no info on a release, at least, as far as I can find.

Why do I have a feeling this is one of those movies we hear about for a long time, and then eventually ends up on Amazon ON-Demand for $2.99.
