Also released this week was Paul Brandt’s Just As I Am. The album features many great artists, such as: Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs and The Whites, The Isaacs, Jon Randall Stewart, John Anderson, Dan Tyminski, and his wife, Liz Brandt.

Gosh, so I have a choice between the new Jamey Johnson Hank Cochran Tribute or Jason Aldean’s new album? That will be a tough one…(lol)

I saw Corb Lund live last Thursday night and he sang some of the songs off his new album but I prefer the older stuff as it just seems more melodic. Corb said he was flying back to Canada the next day to shoot a Canadian CMT sponsored Halloween style video for his new song “Dig, Gravedigger Dig”. Corb mentioned he has been co-writing songs with Hayes Carll and they seem to be a good fit as far as wacky senses of humor are concerned. I wonder if Corb has ever called Hayes a hoser? Hmm…

The two collections at the bottom of the new releases list – banjo and fiddle – are archive compilations from Rebel Records, both really great. The latter includes Bobby Hicks’ recording of Bill Monroe’s “Scotland,” which is one of the best bluegrass tracks ever cut.
