He has a new single, “Is It Already Time”, about his battle with cancer. I bought it about 2 months ago on i-Tunes. Good song but obviously too serious a topic to compete with songs about beer, babes and trucks.

Regular AM band radio just sounds too crappy for a music station to be viable these days (WSM-AM being quite the exception). On the other hand AM band HD radio sounds great but has been huge flop in the marketplace, which is a shame as it puts AM and FM on an equal sonic level of good quality sound. Oh well.

Speaking of Wilford Brumley, last night Jim Lauderdale told a wacky tall tale from the stage at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. Jim told of how he had written an autobiographical book titled “Bluegrass Diaries” which just like “The Basketball Diaries” was being made into a feature film! Jim said the actor chosen to portray him in the movie had been shadowing him 24 hours a day to learn his mannerisms and had stolen his life! That actor was none other than Wilford Brumley! (lol) Jim then said that Fred Thompson had been selected to play Jim as a young man. Talk about screwball…

Wow, Wade Hayes cancer free after all of his struggles the last few years. To that news I must say a heart felt “Thank God”. Go Wade!
