Right, but isn’t it true that a sizable portion of country fans can name at least half a dozen of Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriends? That’s not a judgement on my part, but I do think the same issues you mentioned with Tanya Tucker also exist with Ms. Swift.

I suspect that in the case of Tanya Tucker, the whole soap-opera lifestyle thing may have kept her out of the H-o-F. The “coke and Campbell” years, the children without a husband–even if that suggests something of a gender double-standard, I’d bet it’s a factor with a significant number of voters.

My biggest problem with Chet Flippo’s article (other than finding a compromise between Peter Cooper’s plan and the current policy, as I believe we discussed here in the form of a “veteran’s committee”) is his assertion that Taylor Swift will be the youngest member of the Hall of Fame upon her election. Maybe she will be. Then again, maybe she will be like Tanya Tucker and still be on the outside looking in at age 53.

Two great (and well-deserved) articles on The Time Jumpers.

I didn’t understand the Steel Drivers reference in Peter Cooper’s article, though. Can someone enlighten me, or was that just a typo?
