Pretty sure the Sugarland cover just made my day.

The Pistol Annies’ tracks sound dang good to me, can’t wait to get to hear the whole album!!
Ok that Sugarland cover was so dorky!! Pretty hilarious, makes me think of the geeky kids in High School getting a moment in the spotlight. :D

So Brandi Carlile is a lesbian huh? In that article the writer indicates that Brandi’s coming out hasn’t seemed to affect her popularity. I would guess that’s because most of them probably either don’t know or since she’s an Americana realm gal they wouldn’t care either. The big media hullabaloo about Chely Wright was because she came out of the Mainstream Country Top 40 realm, while in the far more liberal leaning Americana zone anything goes.
I’m trying to like the music of The Pistol Annies, but its just not happening. Oh well..
If Ashton Shepherd is now an honorary Kentucky Colonel, I think she should become a new spokeswoman for KFC! They could film a commercial in Ashton’s pickin’ shed for that total down home experience! (lol)

I don’t like all the Pistol Annie Clips, but I’m holding out judgement until I can here the album in its entirety. I do like some of the clips a lot though, particularly the ones that Miranda Lambert is singing lead on.

That Dehlia Low album is a good one. Here’s a Critic’s Pick I wrote for the Nashville Scene about a recent appearance:

Rick – to my knowledge, Carlile has been relatively open about her sexuality for some time now. Her fanbase has long had a substantial lesbian element to it. Of cuorse, I’m a straight dude and love her to death :-)

I just found out about this site and am so deliriously happy that there’s a replacement for 9513, that I can’t comment on one specific thing, though I’m in the same boat on Pistol Annies. Really desperately WANT to like the project, but I’m not loving it yet. Fingers are crossed that the finished project, in entirety, will be solid.

Jon, this shameless self-promotion has got to STOP!…(lol)
Kelly, if you tried to “love” Brandi Carlile, her lesbian fans would probably beat you to death! (lol)
Noeller, I’m also glad you found about the Engine 145 blog as we have been in desperate need of a Canadian for the last few weeks! There has been a fair amount of news coverage of Canadian artists here, but no commenters thus far who have really given a crap! You have hereby been appointed to that worthy task! (lol)
I think the whole Pistol Annies deal is one of those concepts that sounds better on paper than in the recording studio. In this case they have three chieftesses and no squaws…
PS – I’m excited that I will finally get to see Shelly Fairchild perform live this month at the tiny Mint Club in a show that also features David Nail. Shelley is pushing a new album and the picture they are featuring makes her look like a punk rocker! YIKES! I’m hoping she will sing at least one song off her fine “Ride” album, but I know its a long shot. Go Shelly!
