  • Taylor Swift will receive the Canadian Country Music Association Generation Award, which is designed to “honor an artist expanding the global popularity of country music.” Her new music video will premiere tonight on MTV and CMT.
  • Keith Urban will speak to Nashville public school students on September 6 as part of a Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum educational program, which will be streamed on the HoF website.
  • Miranda Lambert is the executive producer for a show just picked up by NBC. It’s about a “couple who run a highly successful detective agency while also trying to raise two teenagers.”
  • Stream the new Avett Brothers album, The Carpenter, over at NPR.
  • Little Big Town and ConAgra Foods are teaming up to fight child hunger.
  • Harvey Weinstein is going to push for “Midnight Run,” recorded by Willie Nelson for Lawless, to get an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.
  • American Songwriter’s free Muse September Sampler features cuts from Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons, Rayland Baxter, and more.
  • Jason Aldean talks with The 615 about his new album: “To go in with the mindset of trying to top (‘My Kinda Party’) or make an album that sells more than the last — you can’t really do that. If you start to think that way, you’re gonna set yourself up for failure. I’m obviously a lot more confident and more sure of myself than when I started out, and (success) has made me even more confident. So I just went in to make the best record we could, and what happens after is out of your control, so I don’t worry too much about it.”
  • They’re Playing My Song, the new album from Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers, will be released on Rebel Records October 16. (via press release)
  • On September 2, Reba will appear on a special episode of ABC’s The Chew.

Is it possible that Harvey Weinstein doesn’t know that Oscars for Best Song go to songwriters but not performers? “Midnight Run,” the song Willie Nelson sings on the Lawless soundtrack was compposed by Jim Dolan, Marc Copely and Adam Levy, not Willie. (Or maybe Weinstein isn’t letting a thing like eligibility requirements get in the way of generating some publicity for a movie he or his company produced.)

Gosh, I guess turning 30 is just too much for LeAnn Rimes to bear! Oh, the humanity. I didn’t know they had treatment facilities that cater to extreme narcissists! Hmm…

That Opry honoring Miss Loretty is gonna be a good’un! I sure hope the Annies perform “Fist City” with Miranda on lead vocals.

When Triggerman announces that a certain artist has “arrived”, you can find me scrambling for the nearest exit! (lol)
