"Before Loretta Lynn hooked up with “Jack Blight,” she was practically banished by the industry. "

Nonsense.

Rick--
Before Loretta Lynn hooked up with "Jack Blight," she was practically banished by the industry. Does anybody remember her CD "Who Was That Stranger"?? Issued on MCA/Universal "Special Products"?? What was special about it is that it went direct from the factory to the record store remainder bin without ever stopping in the regular music section.

Jack White produced a real album with her, got it promoted in all kinds of media--and as I recall, "Van Lear Rose" was on a lot of the end-of-year "Best Of" lists.

I don't think Loretta will be listening to your advice.

Chet Flippo does a fine job explaining the mechanism of the AirHead-ization of mainstream country music. When mediocrity becomes the core of the commercial country music realm, you have to keep going out further and further out towards the periphery to find worthwhile new music.

I applaud artists that start their own music labels. Unfortunately these types of ventures rarely make money, so good luck Jamie as you are going to need it. Treat it like a financial investment where you set a limit up front on how much money you are willing to lose...

The addition of Dwight Yoakam and The McClymonts to the Country Thunder concert tour almost make it worth attending. Emphasis on "almost"...

So first Loretta Lynn hooks up with Jack Blight and now its with both Brett "I'm Poison" Michaels and T. Bonehead Burnette! Loretta, please get off this walk of shame and the sooner the better! Crikey!

Looks like Jamie O'Neal's label name is Momentum, not Monument. (Jamie O’Neal has started a new label, Monument.) Monument is a longtime label name, recording home to Roy Orbison, Kris Kristofferson, Larry Gatlin, the Dixie Chicks and others
