I haven’t looked at the link but my list of top country guitarists would include: Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Maybelle Carter, Jimmy Bryant, Joe Maphis, Redd Volkaert, and Albert Lee among many other. Brad Paisley and Keith Urban don’t qualify purely because I don’t care for their music! (lol)

Tonight’s Music City Roots is the Aussie artist special. Should be a ripper mate!

I think it is admirable most “Americana” branded artists stay true to their musical vision. Its just a shame so much of said music is just not “musical” enough for me to find any enjoyment within it.

It’s nice Dwight is getting a bit of a media blitz after being off the radar for so long. The effects will likely last as long as the feeling of being “full” after a Chinese food meal…

That seems like a dubious assumption.

In other news, that link in the Bankesters video note is actually to a page at Bluegrass Today that, along with the embedded video, describes a contest to see who can identify the biggest number of bluegrass faces therein. Some nice musicianly prizes, too.

It is refershing to see a Dwight project get a promotional push like this. Dwight has been high on my list since I dropped a needle on Guitars and Cadilac’s back in the day.

Props to Warner Bros. (whom I assume is responsible for much of it) for cranking up the promotion of Dwight’s 3 Pears: the CMT.com video posted here, a TV special last night on Palladia, interviews with Barry Mazor and Peter Cooper among others, Don McCleese’s talk on is Dwight book at the Country Music Hall of Fame, etc.

Kind of odd these days to see this much attention given to music that I’m actually interested in.
