The female lead singer of Tin Cup Gypsy was also well worth a look and a listen. The roughness in her voice adds a nice edge. That video is a long way from “If I Die Young” to be sure.

Most of the Aussie stuff this week is pretty mundane except for the “alt. bluegrass” of Mustered Courage. If the lead singer didn’t have such a strident and annoying vocal style, they’d be an interesting listen. As soon as I saw the band’s name contained “mustered” I knew it was Aussie as that word is still in common usage down under. One of the biggest annual music festivals in Australia is named the Gympie Muster. Now where else would you encounter that?

With the LA Alan Jackson show postponed, it would be nice if opening act Ashley Monroe booked a last minute gig somewhere else! I’ll have to watch Ashley’s Facebook posts this week. I wouldn’t pay $ 55 to see Alan with Ashley, but a solo Ashley show would be a different matter.

I need to keep an eye out for bargain OCMS merchandise online! Was their new CD included in the stuff stolen? Hmm…(lol)

This weekend’s top notch freebie LA Americana concerts included Angela Easterling, David Serby, Gwendolyn, and I See Hawks In LA. Sometimes Los Angeles does redeems itself, but it doesn’t last very long.

I think there are a couple of Hanks who have him beat in those two categories–one from Waco, Texas and one from Queens County, Nova Scotia
