It was William Blake Shelton who had that record “Tyger, Tyger, You Can Kiss My Ass.” Country radio didn’t seem to know what to make of it, a unique situation.

Who in the hell is William Blake? The closest I ever get to classic literature is via Ruth Harrison on “A Prairie Home Companion”. Hmm…

Not a country recording but in writing The Doors song “End of the Night,” Jim Morrison was allegedly inspired by reading Blake’s poem “Auguries of Innocence.” See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iERil2Tz1Mg

(That’s about the only thing I recall about a high school term paper I wrote when Emmylou Harris was still a brunette.)
