If that exhibit does nothing more than remind people that Rose Maddox isn't in the Hall of Fame but ought to be, it will have served a fine purpose. Anything else is just gravy.

Gosh, I'd really love to see that Bakersfield Sound exhibit at the CMOH. They definitely need to shoot a video tour version and post it online for everyone who won't make it to Nashville during its run. I wonder how much detail it will go into about all of the other lesser known Bakersfield artists from the 1950's who were an integral part of that thriving honky tonk scene? Hmm...

It seems like the only country related genre that's truly nurturing the next generation of artists is the bluegrass realm. With summer band camps and training/instructional sessions at most bluegrass festivals, the genre is guaranteeing self perpetuation with youn-un's who truly love the music. Texan Ruby Jane used to be a regular part of such activities and is a personal friend of many of the bluegrassers in her age bracket including Sierra Hull and her fiddle player Christian Ward. It's nice to know a thriving bluegrass music scene is here to stay no matter what happens in the commercial country music business.

Thanks for the Sarah Jarosz and Sierra Hull video links. I just wish Garrison Keillor would jump on the Sierra Hull bandwagon as much as he has with Sarah Jarosz. Oh well...

Opry Alert! Tonight's show is pretty weak with Katie Armiger, Jimmy Wayne, Point of Grace, and Mark Wills. Grade: B-. Saturday night's Opry is much improved with Dolly Parton, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Holly Williams, and Bradley Gaskin. Grade: A! Go Opry!
Schedule: http://www.opry.com/shows/ThisWeek.html
