I kind of wish country labels would jump on the indie label resurgence in vinyl of late, at least in special cases - would love to have that re-release of Alan Jackson's gospel songs on LP.

Ooops, turns out the Eden's Edge album release is on June 12th, not the 2nd. That's what I get for wearing earplugs...

Wow, things are really hopping around here! Where is everybody? Hmm...

Music City Roots is back tonight after a couple of weeks on hiatus and will feature Audrey Auld, The Vespers, The Driftwood Singers, Gareth Dunlop, and Jabe Beyer. Looks like another "interesting" show.

I'm getting excited about the 2012 Grand Ole Echo season, which as mentioned above starts on April 15th. Admission is free, the parking is free, and most of the music performed there is worth every penny! (lol) I'll admit most of the Americana acts featured throughout the season don't do a whole lot for me, but the occasional real country and bluegrass bands make up for it. Its the best (free) way I know of to spend a mellow Sunday afternoon among kindred spirits (well except most of them are Obamavoters! Crikey mate! lol)

I caught Eden's Edge at The Mint club last night and they put on a wonderful acoustic set that ran for at least an hour and 15 minutes! (Long by Mint standards.) They sang a bunch of new songs including their new single that hits country radio next week, which sounds quite a bit like "Amen" (no surprise there). The more "country" of the new songs presented, which dealt with subjects like skinny dipping and what a man's drink says about him, were excellent and are definitely on my download list when they become available. They also sang a gorgeous new ballad titled "Liar" that sadly would never make it on country radio. The Eden's Edge debut full album is slated for release on June 2nd and will include 4 of the songs off of their 5 song EP. Because of that I recommended the new album contain at least 14 tracks! (lol) If you get a chance to see Eden's Edge live, just DO IT!
