Funny, I think the best part of the whole page was:

That app is frickin’ awesome. If you have a kid, get it. Period.

Seems to me that it’s not at all unusual for artists across all genres–Tony Bennett, Ray Price, Pete Seeger!, etc.–to keep performing as long as they physically can, and as long as there’s still an audience that wants to hear them.

Hag and Buck are in the great tradition of E.T. who I was lucky enough to see at the Townhouse in Emeryville (a real honky tonk, pre-gentrification)and who looked like death warmed over, chain smokin’ on the bus between sets, but once on stage he lit up the whole house and you could see he’d rather perform till he dropped than retire and die in bed. Here’s sending good thoughts Merle’s way, hope he makes it back home to Redding soon.

I’ve always been impressed that the Hag doesn’t seem to ever entertain the idea of quitting no matter how serious his health problems get.

Last I knew, he was saying that he can’t afford to quit.

Tonight’s Music City Roots is featuring “Belmont Bands” that include: Kopecky Family Band, Apache Relay, Westbound Rangers, Shirock, Leah Korbin, and Jim Lauderdale is back from Europe. Should be another “interesting” show.

That Marty Stuart and Blue Highway pairing will be top notch. Its just a shame Mountain Stage has anything to do with the NPR/PBS establishment! Oh well.
