I once got a CD of his called “Another Way to Go”–or something like that. I ordered it and put it on in the car. Every song seemed to have some cascading, blaring “hook.” After about the sixth song with another manipulative crescendo of crappola, it became so unbearable that I was overcome with an uncontrollable urge to pop the disc out of the player and fling it out the window like a frisbee at 70 mph! That’s the last Radney Foster CD I ever bought.

But “Del Rio, Texas” was a good album. I’ll grant you that.

Now that Kim Richey has moved back to Nashville after living in England for a few years, I wish she and Radney would get back together and cook up another Del Rio Texas style album!

Radney is a joy to behold live he is a amazing writer but does not get his due as a performer. Just call me lonesome is a classic.

Great picks! Especially love “Godspeed” and “I’ve Seen Enough to Know.” Also a big fan of Evans’ “A Real Fine Place to Start” and Foster’s hit “Nobody Wins.” All great tunes.

Excellent choice for a Friday Five! From his Foster & Lloyd period I like Leavin in Your Eyes and Texas in 1880, although I’m not sure what role he had in writing those two. Nobody Wins, Raining on Sunday, Godspeed, and I’m In are favorites also. He’s written some fine songs.

Good songs especially “Godspeed” and “I’m In”. I like Urban’s version of the latter better than the Kinley’s but the best version I’ve heard is by Radney’s co-writer Georgia Middleman. Unfortunately, she hasn’t recorded it. Right now she’s touring as a Blue Sky Rider with Gary Burr and Kenny Loggins.
