I'll be hitting the Kathleen Edwards/Bon Iver show in Dallas tonight. While I dig Bon Iver, I'll probably be one of the few who are there more for the opener than the headliner...

I'd be happy if the "Easy Living" in question is the song Catherine Britt covered in her debut "Dusty Smiles..." album. There just aren't many good songs about horse drawn medicine show wagons around these days...

As for "Dead Flowers", Caitlin Rose did do a nice cover of the Rolling Stones song on her debut EP. In fact it was the best song included in that particular release, followed by "Three Cigarettes In An Ashtray".

That would be excellent. But I'm not going to get my hopes up like I did for "Dead Flowers."

So what's the over/under on the 'Easy Living' on Lambert's record being the Billie Holiday song?

Quick Report on Amanda Shires at LA's Mint Club last night: It may have just been Amanda Shires and Rod Picott on stage for an acoustic set, but it was enough to captivate the small audience. In addition to songs off her three studio albums Amanda tossed in the Buddy Holly song "True Love Ways", fitting since Amanda also hails from Lubbock, Texas. I brought along my trusty "Adorability Index Meter" and Amanda is now competing with Sarah Buxton for the top spot, with Emily West and Joey Martin also scoring very high in past meet and greets. Amanda will be part of the "Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass Festival" and I'd highly recommend an interview by any Engine145 types that might happen to attend. I guarantee Amanda will charm the socks right off your feet! (lol)

Its nice to read anything about Kathleen Edwards these days. Its been awhile...

Now that Nora Jane Struthers is with Bearfoot, I want them to do really, really well! Go Nora!

Now that Angaleena Presly is with The Pistol Annies, I'd expect real life experience songs like "Lemon Drop" to be harder for her to write. Relative poverty does have its merits with struggling songwriters after all.
