J.R., that's funny to me that you consider Buffy Lawson a "new find". I've been a fan of Buffy's ever since she was part of the original BOMSHEL duo on the Curb label. I was fortunate enough to acquire an advance copy of the unreleased original BOMSHEL debut album off of Ebay as it seems not many of them were ever distributed. Buffy is a powerful vocalist and it would be great to see her earn a little money for her efforts finally.

Maybe a lot of the people that watched the CMA Awards a year ago were in the areas affected by hurricane Sandy. If not it might mean the American public is realizing how mediocre Top 40 AirHead Country really is! Yeah, right...

The CMA awards ratings thing says a lot. This should probably be common sense to the people running it, but the people the record industry is trying to court so hard right now, young people, dont necessarily watch Country Music award shows in large numbers. It also says the people that probably would watch are pretty turned off/disinterested right now.

The Civil Wars thing is pretty sad, I admit to never fully getting into them, but still it sucks anytime a band that isnt singing about tractors, trucks and dirt roads and seems to do well with a Folk/Americana sound disintegrates.

Per Craig Shelburne's article, I listened to 4 tracks from Buffy Lawson yesterday and she's great. Here's a 40-something woman singing a middle-aged woman's songs - and they're good songs behind a mostly 90s country production. She's my favorite new find in a while. Her album is on itunes.
