For any of you lucky enough to hear the wonderful married couple "Tim and Nikki Bluhm" on Music City Roots tonight, they are definitely one of the best indie California based acts I've heard in awhile. I saw them perform in 2011 fronting their cover band "Brokedown In Bakersfield" where they sing their favorite Bakersfield and SoCal country tunes with Hag tunes being in the majority. I look forward to their return to Los Angeles either as a duet act or fronting "Brokedown" again.

Holy Moly, that Bakersfield Sound exhibit at the CMHOF sounds, as Taylor Swift might say, totally awesome. Its nice to see artifacts and exhibits related to Rose Maddox, Wynn Stewart, Tommy Collins, and the Farmer Boys mentioned among others. Its a wonderful thing that Jean Shepherd and some of the other pioneers are still around to participate in that panel discussion and concert. Merle Haggard was a Johnny Come Lately to the Bakersfield scene compared to those other folks, but it would have been nice if he were able to have been part of the festivities. Its too bad Ferlin Husky didn't live quite long enough to participate. Now I just wish they would create a museum in Bakersfield near to the Buck Owens Crystal Palace to exhibit these artifacts in perpetuity! Oh well....

Are those "bones" Dom Flemmons plays the same kind Randy Travis was trying to dig up way back when? Hmm...(lol)

Whenever I look at Trailer's retouched album covers I have to make sure my mouth is not full of some sort of beverage! I don't want to wreck another keyboard by spewing liquid on it when something makes me guffaw! Good work as usual Parkman!

Congrats to the new Songwriters Hall of Fame members. I never got to see Seger or Lightfoot although I like their music. My wife and I have seen Don Schlitz at the Bluebird Cafe. He generally does a solo show there once a month. Besides being a great songwriter, he puts on a real good show. His dry sense of humor makes it worth paying close attention between the songs.
