I have fond childhood memories of seeing Stompin’ Tom Saturday nights on the Tommy Hunter show, which made it into Michigan via the Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s channel out of Windsor, ON. Second favorite memory was when WCBN’s Downhome Show played his song Bud the Spud nonstop for the better portion of an hour.

Miss Tess & The Talkbacks are a lot better in concept than they are live. We saw them in a club a couple of weeks ago and were not impressed, although they may have suffered in comparison to the tour de force that Lindi Ortega put on earlier that night.

At first I thought that death announcement was about country guitarist extraordinaire Albert Lee! Whew, I’m relieved to find out it was that Ten Years After rocker guitarist Alvin Lee instead. I blame the drugs he consumed at the original Woodstock!

I sure hope Dawn Sears can beat that cancer! She needs to come out to LA’s “City of Hope” hospital where they are on the cutting edge of cancer treatments and research. Well that’s what the radio ads say anyway…

Caitlin Rose is so left field I wonder if she will ever become more than a critic’s darling? As broad as the Americana realm is, she might be stretching the boundaries a bit.

I think Ashley Monroe and Kacey Musgraves should get together and try some co-writing if they haven’t already. The result of their combined perspectives could be quite interesting.

As much as Cherill and Dean of Eden’s Edge want to keep the band going, I just don’t see how they can without Hannah. It would be like Alabama trying to go on without Randy Owen. On the other hand they could try the Highway 101 approach and hire a new lead singer! Hmmm…
