Connie Smith still sounds awfully good, and her new album is great.

Cliff O’Sullivan was one of my 2011 Leadership Music class (scrappiest class ever!) mates, as was now-departed Nashville Sugar Hill honchette Molly Nagel (a/k/a Mrs. Casey Driessen) and is a good guy. I think he’ll do well at Sugar Hill.

Looking forward to the new Connie Smith album – Rick’s correct – at age 70 she’s lost a little of her vocal prowess, maybe 5%, which means she is still about the best female singer out there today.

I listened to some of the songs off the free Bloodshot sampler at Amazon and the price is just about right for the music involved! (lol)

Putting a Nashville big label guy in charge of Sugar Hill seems a bit confounding, but the Welk Music Group (as in founded by polka king Lawrence Welk) usually knows what they are doing. Well I hope so anyway.

I’m not surprised Mike from American Pickers is a country music fan. I’d expect Frank to be more into easy listening stuff, like say Montovani! (lol) Because of Danielle’s tattoos, I’d expect her tastes to run more towards death metal and gothic grunge! Yikes!

If Connie Smith still sounded like she did when she recorded “Once A Day”, I might be interested in her new album. We all know that ain’t the case though…

I’d expect a semi-truck to be backing up to Taylor Swift’s house right now to unload a cargo container’s worth of iPods! What are the chances Taylor will write a song about Hunter Hayes? Hmm…

I’m glad that the Rimes album will finally be released. It doesn’t sound like it’s going to be the covers album that it once was promoted as, since the last two singles aren’t cover songs.

Dale Watson is also working with Mike Wolfe of Antique Archeology and American Pickers. Dale’s one of mike’s favorites (He’s even worn a Dale Watson T-Shirt on the show).

Congrats to Blake and thank god we finally get the LeAnn Rimes album! I’ve loved all three singles and can’t wait to buy it the day it comes out. Hopefully she will be successful despite the media scrutiny and resistance from radio because she really is making better music then every other mainstream female artist at the moment, with the exception of Miranda Lambert.
