If given the opportunity, I listen to albums "now" in order to see if I want to buy them when they're released. So, it's good to knnow when they're going to be available for me to buy. Of course, I can always look it up, so not a big deal if it's mentioned with the stream, but the convenience is always nice.

RF: "I’m so drunk, I can’t even remember why we’re scrappin."

That's my favorite part of that back and forth...the way he says it is more amusing than it looks on "paper."

RF: Kelly, what do you say we patch up our differences and just meet halfway?
KW: You're about one fifth too far gone for that.
RF: I'm so drunk, I can't even remember why we're scrappin.
KW: That's 'cause you're an asshole.
RF: But other than that.

That Ashley and Blake duet is alright but they should have recorded Ashley's song "Alone Together Tonight" which made it onto the Gene Watson and Rhonda Vincent duets album. I have the demo version cut by Ashley with co-writer Billy Yates and it kicks the ass of the Gene and Rhonda version and is just plain more fun than this Dolly/Porter thingamabob.

That interview with Roger Knox made me think of the fine films "Quigley Down Under" starring Tom Selleck and "Rabbit-Proof Fence". It seems the Aussie settlers treated the Aborigines about as well as European settlers treated the Native Americans in North America. It's nice that Roger has been able to rise above the past.

I'm interested to hear what direction Caitlin Rose is heading now. That is one gal who plays by her own set of rules musically.

We can tie this together: The Ashley/Blake duet would go pretty well with the Kelly Willis/Robbie Fulks "Parallel Bars" duet. DJs take note. If you want to.

Great article, Barry.

Arlene, did Kelly tell the story behind why she started singing Harper Valley PTA? It's pretty funny.

Yes, agreed on the Ashley/Blake duet. It's very good, though I'm partial to Ashley's duet with Dwight from the first album. I think her voice is the female version of Dwight's.
