Wow, that Alan Lomax article made my brain hurt! (It was truly interesting though, well the parts I could understand anyway! lol) Here's my favorite sentence from the article:

"On the one hand, there’s a culturally conservative reification and commodification of the music presented as a deluxe vinyl artifact—though appealingly tactile and “serious” in its presentation, it’s also arguably nostalgic and exclusive—and on the other a democratic immediacy to access and “cultural feedback” (a stated goal of the ACE) unmoored from a fully contextual presentation and audiovisual fidelity."

Now that is not something you would find in Country Weekly! (lol)

The Wood Brothers were featured on Music City Roots a week ago and they kicked some serious musical butt! I had never heard of them before but I hope they return to MCR and the sooner the better!

I hope Sara Watkins writes or locates some better material for her new album as compared to her first! I love her fiddle playing, I really like her singing voice and when she appears on A Prairie Home Companion, but I consider her first album a dud. Come on Sara, I know you can do a lot better than that! (A mentor would be a welcome addition this go round.)

For any of you that saw this week's "Justified" on FX, that gal on stage at the show's opening was LA's own Lynda Kay (Parker). Lynda performs in the style of a cross between Patsy Cline and Wanda Jackson when she gets revved up as she mixes classic country and 50's rockabilly styles. Lynda is definitely one of LA's more enjoyable home grown country artists these days.

“everything was going so well until frontman Marcus Mumford ran offstage to puke.”

I've been to a show like that... except the singer didn't bother to run offstage to puke.

Ms. Yearwood is also at work recording a new album. She told me on Tuesday after the Hall of Fame induction announcements, that she half feared people would JUST think of her as a cooking show host now, and suddenly realized that it's been five years since her last (IMHO, very good) CD..
