The big Opry news is that the 2013 Tuesday Night Opry season kicks off next week with a tribute to those artists who perished in the Patsy Cline plane crash. Here’s a blurb from the Opry website:

“The Grand Ole Opry will mark the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that claimed the lives of Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins during its March 5 show. Some of the late legends’ biggest hits will be performed by Mandy Barnett, Terri Clark, John Conlee, Chuck Mead & His Grassy Knoll Boys and Jean Shepard, who was married to Hawkins at the time of his death.” Should be a barn burner!

On yesterday’s AOL’s BOOT they featured a music video for the new single from the Henningsen’s titled “American Beautiful”. The article contained the following information: “American Beautiful,” co-written by the trio with Brett Beavers, put the family trio in the record books as the first debut song by a country group to hit the Top 30 in just four weeks. It had the most first-week radio adds of any debut song by a group in Country Aircheck’s history, as well as the highest impact-week add total for a group since 1999.” I listened and the song is the perfect Top 40 Airhead Country Radio “Formula Song”, so as a result I found it mediocre and boring. These siblings definitely have a feel for the pulse of the current contemporary country music scene.
