Staff | May 6th, 2010

Did Miley someone insult Taylor Swift?
Oh no she didn’t!
No, really…she didn’t. — Jim

What kind of writing style does George Strait use?
The Dean Dillon style. — Sam

Strait country delivered strait from the heart, strait to you. Puns are also encouraged. — CMW

What is Jaron’s last name?
Andthelongroadtolove. Most people assume that’s his band’s name. — Ken

What people don’t realize, however, is that “Andthelongroadtolove” is actually easier to remember and spell than his real name. — Jim

What was Vern Gosdin’s band called?
He was “The Voice.” His band was “The Musicians.” — Ken

What Alan Jackson CD is “The Majic Man” on?
The name of the song is “The Malec Man,” and Jackson’s ode to The 9513′s managing editor is a bonus track on Freight Train. — Sam

It’s on 50 Cent’s upcoming release, actually. It’s a follow-up to “Magic Stick,” where Jackson takes over Lil Kim’s part and goes by the rap name “Tall Al.” — Karlie

Did Jimmy Buffett write “Toes?”
No, but he can write with his toes. — Ken

What is Johnny Cash’s best song?
Gotta be “The Chicken In Black.” — Sam

“Johnny Cash” by Jason Aldean — Karlie

“God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” obviously. Justin Timberlake and Q-Tip appear in the video. — CMW

Why is Jake Owen’s “8 Second Ride” lyrics changed?
Because God is good? — Jim

Who wrote the house that built me?
Bob Villa — Ken

What does the song “American Honey” mean?
That Lady Antebellum should brush up on how metaphors work. — Karlie

It can mean anything you want. That’s what makes it boring… I mean, universal. — CMW

How do I get hair like Kim Perry?
Be hip to the heart of your hairdresser. — Karlie

I don’t know, but I assume it involves lots and lots of hairspray. — Jim

What boots does Josh Turner wear?
Long black plain. — Ken

What does Montgomery Gentry say about his music?
It’s best appreciated by non-bears. — CMW

That he’s pissed off that Eddie Montgomery & Troy Gentry stole his thunder. — Ken

How much money does Eric Church make per year?
Enough to keep him in the black tees and Aviator shades, but far less than his ego would lead you to expect. — CMW

It doesn’t matter. Eric Church doesn’t do it for the money. He does it for the pure love of his art form. That’s why his songs are so edgy and full of grit. — Jim

Was Willie Nelson in Smokey and the Bandit?
Only the real life version. — Ken

What does it mean to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry?
Nothing. The Grand Ole Opry is dead to me until they start adding deceased legends to the cast of their live radio show. — CMW

What shampoo does Taylor Swift use?
We think it’s this one…Ken

What is the season for beer?
Depends–what season is it right now? — Jim

That he’s pissed off that Eddie Montgomery & Troy Gentry stole his thunder. — Ken
You know, I loved all of these, but that’s the one that actually made laugh out loud.

I guess you didn’t hear that all the Nashville beer distributors have been shut down by the flood. True story.

CMW for the win with the Opry question, though.

    Didn’t hear that.
For the record, I tried to be especially sensitive when editing this edition of the mailbag.

Also for the record, Jim’s care was necessary because most of the answers were turned in pre-flood, not because we made a bunch of tasteless flood jokes in the days immediately following the tragedy. Just to be clear. ;-)

Jim, I don’t think your answer was offensive in the least, just sort of ironic under the circumstances.

The George Strait and Josh Turner ones are my favorites in this batch. Well done! :)

The Grand Old Opry is more popular over the last few years than at any time in its history. Guys, do you look at the numbers before you spout out personal hatreds? It is the finest music institution in the world and the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon a country artist!

Do you not recognize satire when you hear it??

Was Willie Nelson in Smokey and the Bandit?
    Only the real life version.

Would Willie be the “Smokey” part of the title?
