I think I will have to give this one a listen. I'm not especially familiar with the Josh Abbott Band, though I loved "Oh, Tonight," but this review definitely makes me curious to hear the album.

There are a lot of stronger acts on the Texas Red Dirt circuit than Josh and company but not since the rise of Pat Green in the ninties has there been a band to more with the undeniable charisma of their live performances than the Josh Abbott Band. The scene in Texas has always been based more on the live performance than in other places. Go see them live you'll see what I mean. The songs on this and the last album are works in progress but as a writer I suspect the maturation process will continue for Josh. They deliver live and are an excellent draw on the Texas Red Dirt circuit and more and more are expanding nationally.
