Nice review Karlie. Its great that Alan can continue to make the kind of music he loves for his legion of loyal fans and still garner some radio airplay as well. Alan and George Strait have been the two surviving standouts able to keep it country during the last couple of decades and still remain relevant in the mainstream commercial marketplace. Alan may not be Hank or Johnny or Merle, but since the late 1980's he's been about the closest thing mainstream country music has produced that compares to those legends. Good on him!

I have yet to hear Thirty Miles West, but this review makes me particularly excited!

I love how you play around with the typical review structure, Karlie - This review was anything but phoned-in. Your first couple paragraphs had me wondering if you were getting ready to dish out some tough love, but not at all! I bet you must have had fun writing this review, especially knowing what a passionate Jackson fan you are.

At any rate, I'm thrilled to hear that the new album wholly fulfills expectations, and I can't wait to pick up a copy for myself tomorrow.

This was released in Australia on Friday, so I've been happily listening to it for the last few days along with Wade Bowen's latest.

I totally agree with everything you said Karlie. Alan Jackson at his best always sounds both heart-warmingly familiar and compellingly fresh and, for me, this album is a great example of that. And I'm a big fan of "You Go Your Way". I'm a sucker for breakup songs like that sound so smooth. It reminds me a bit of George Strait's "Easy Come, Easy Go". It's difficult not to go on and on about this album, but I'll shut up now :)
