A British music pal just put me onto a cool new music video from a Swedish sister act named First Aid Kit. This is one of the best Gram Parsons tribute themed videos I've ever seen and was shot in Joshua Tree National Park where Gram's body was cremated. First Aid Kit's debut album "The Lion's Roar" has become the best selling album in Sweden despite being totally Americana in style! To add to the strangeness factor it was recorded in Omaha Nebraska of all places! (lol) If you wanted to see these gals in concert, you'd have to fly to Europe first. That theater has no on-site parking and is just up the street from the very busy Beverly Center high end shopping mall. If you can find parking at all its at least $ 15. The surrounding residential neighborhoods have parking restrictions that require you to have window stickers issued to residents only. I went there to see Joey+Rory a couple of years back and the overall experience was such total bullsh*t I swore never to go back. Still I applaud actor Ed Helms for creating this event but just wish it was held at a more accessible and less expensive venue. Oh well... Hopefully the other songs on the Hunger Games soundtrack are more interesting than Taylor Swift's contribution. Not even the Civil Wars can redeem that snooze fest. That Chris Isaak show sounds fantastic. I'm always glad to hear about top shelf modern artists paying tribute to the great songs of the 1950's. Good on ya Chris!
