I’m not sure that announcing multiple albums is the cure when you’re no longer selling ANY albums, but who knows?

I hear Clint Black is about to issue a press release that he’ll be releasing five albums this year and next.

Son of a gun, Bobby Bare’s still got it.
The guy’s body of work is enormous–he was on the charts more-or-less continuously for twenty years. Bare’s ability to put a story across is comparable to Johnny Cash and this new CD is on a par with Cash’s latter day works with Rick Rubin–It’s a shame it’s not getting anything near the recognition.

And when the hell will they put Bare in the Hall of Fame?!

Lots of interesting stuff today! I don’t know where to start!

The Starday label was both a blessing and a curse. They continued to support artists the big labels had lost interest in BUT the sound quality of their recordings was consistently crappy! Talk about a low budget production approach. The should have asked Sam Phillips to drive up from Memphis and show them how it should have been done…

I hope Calgary’s new Festival Hall is really well insulated! (lol) The selection of beers available will surely be top shelf!

Shawn Mullins is coming to MCcabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica and I haven’t decided if I’m going to attend yet. At least he likely won’t cancel the way the Blue Sky Riders did last Friday night…

Any day that includes a new Dale Watson release is a good one. I don’t envy them trying to record a live album at Ginny’s during CSB. The background crowd noise there is usually as loud or louder than the band.
